G7 over, Buhari returns to face appointments brouhaha

Published

President Buhari returned to the country in the early hours of Tuesday from Germany where he went to attend the G7 summit.

As he returns, he will be faced with the task of sorting out the list of appointees to form his cabinet which has caused some rancor within his party, the APC, since after it won the presidential election.

But a fresh crisis is brewing in the party as Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State is reported to have submitted the name of his in-law, Prof. Anthony Anwuka and two others to President Buhari for the post of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

Okorocha, as the leader of APC in the South-east, is saddled with the responsibility of submitting the list of the SGF nominees to Buhari to make a choice.

The other names on the list are Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and Senator Chris Ngige.

Anwuka’s son, Uzo, recently married Uju, Okorocha’s daughter.

“You should be aware by now that Rochas has removed the SSG in Imo State. He replaced him with his chief of staff and replaced the chief of staff with his son-in-law (Uche Nwosu) who was Commissioner for Lands in his first term. He has sent Anwuka’s name to Buhari for the post of SGF,” a source disclosed.
