The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Tuesday, signed the state’s 2021 budget of N137.6 billion into law.

The governor, who signed the budget at the State House in Ilorin, said his administration would build on the ongoing infrastructural development and increase investments in social protection and youth empowerment.

He also signed the bill repealing the payment of pensions to former governors and their deputies in the state.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Yakubu Danladi, who led members of the House to the brief signing ceremony, told the governor that members of the public were unanimous about the need to repeal the law during the hearing.

He said the budget would have huge impacts on the state’s economy, especially on job creation, youth empowerment and workers’ welfare.

He said: “We are also focusing on youth empowerment, job creation, and social investments, which are very critical at this point of our national life.”
