A Police Inspector attached to a Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo, Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo, was shot dead on Sunday by gunmen suspected to be hired assassins.

The incident occurred at Umudagu, Mberi, in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state. The Inspector, whose name was given as Mr Ogbe, was at Chief Nlemigbo’s compound at Umudagu when the gunmen arrived at about 8 p.m.

Sources close to Chief Nlemigbo told newsmen in Owerri that there was exchange of gunfire between the hoodlums and late Insp. Ogbe during which he (the inspector) was killed.
