ISIS knife-man stabs 2 Indonesian police officers

In the latest series of attacks involving militant groups, a suspected Islamic State knifeman stabbed and wounded two police officers in the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta.

The knifeman who allegedly put an IS sticker on a building near a police post, was however shot and injured in the attack.

“The perpetrator was shot but he’s still alive,” National Police spokesman Boy Rafli Amar told Reuters. “We suspect the perpetrator is an ISIS sympathizer.”

Authorities in Indonesia are increasingly worried about resurgence in radicalism in the world’s largest Muslim-majority country, driven in part by a new generation of jihadis inspired by Islamic State.
