Ighalo happy Eagles avoided Brazil, Germany in World Cup draw

Ahead of the Super Eagles international friendly match against the Pharaohs of Egypt, Odion Ighalo has expressed his excitement in having to face Mohamed Salah.

Ighalo, who was second-highest goal scorer in the Chinese Super League last season, said it will be interesting matching up against Salah, who conquered the English Premier League last season.

Salah emerged as the highest goalscorer and best player of the season in his first term at Liverpool.

The Egypt star was the scorer of the lone goal that denied Nigeria a place at the 2017 Africa cup of nations (AFCON).

Speaking as a guest on SkySports on Monday, Ighalo admitted he will love to play against one of the best players in the world.

“Salah has improved so much in his play. He is now quicker and mature and his style has evolved since he came to the Premier League,” the forward said as cited by CSN.

“He was the highest goal scorer and best player in his first season playing from the flank. Now being used as the central striker at Liverpool, he is again joint top scorer with Kane and Aubumeyang on 14 goals.

“It will be interesting playing against him. I believe he and Liverpool have what it takes to win the premier league this season if they remain focused with other players raising their game.

“If they (Liverpool) can keep Salah and Van Dirk injury free and fit, Liverpool make nick the title this season,” he added.

Ighalo also said he is looking to return to the Premier League as a free agent, but ruled out the idea of playing as a backup striker at any club.

The Nigeria vs Egypt friendly is set to take place at Asaba on March 26.
