Jukun women protest killing of spouses by alleged Tiv militants

Tiv youths ask Taraba Assembly to impeach Ishaku over Tiv/Junkun conflict

Jukun women on Sunday marched en masse on the streets of Donga in Donga Local Council of Taraba State to protest against the incessant killings of their spouses by suspected Tiv militias.

The protest which ended at the palace of the traditional ruler of the emirate, Chief Stephen Bayonga, lasted for hours.

There had been a recent eruption of violence in Kante village of Wukari council area between the Tiv and Jukun ethnic groups, leading to destruction of lives and properties.

The women called on the Federal Government to urgently come to their aid.

However, the President General of Tiv Social Cultural Association, Chief Goodman Dahida, decried the allegations made by the women adding that no one was killed.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, David Misal, informed news men that he was not aware of the protest in Donga.
