Abductors of female students and staff of Engravers College, Kaduna State have insisted on the payment of N10million each as ransom for the six students and two staff of school.

The yet to be identified gunmen had, in the early hours of Thursday last week, stormed the Engravers College and whisked away six female students and two other staff resident in the school to an unknown destination.

Spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Yakubu Sabo, who confirmed the incident, said, “On Friday, the kidnappers were said to have contacted the management of the college where they demanded N50m as ransom after jettisoning their earlier demand of N30m per head for the pupils.

“The abductors later settled for N50m for the six female pupils and the two staff.”

However, the abductors were said to have contacted parents of the students to get N10m each ransom for their release.

An official of the school who is involved in the bargain for the victims’ freedom, said the kidnappers discarded the initial arrangement after listening to reports of the kidnapping on the radio.

“They said they don’t want collective bargain again. They said every parent should pay N10 million and collect his child,” he said.
