Late Silva goal helps Man City beat Chelsea to reach FA Cup final

Bernardo Silva scored a late goal to help Manchester City defeat Chelsea in Wembley to reach the final of the English FA Cup.

Both sides struggled to find the net in the first half, with Chelsea’s Nicholas Jackson failing to convert the best chance of the half.

With the win, defending champions City, who are now chasing a double this season, will now face Coventry or Manchester United in the final of the FA Cup.

A treble-chasing City had failed in their attempt to retain the Champions League title after they fell to Real Madrid in the quarterfinals earlier this week.

They successfully bounced back from the disappointment as an 84th-minute salvation came through the foot of Silva from Kevin de Bruyne’s cross six minutes from time.

Chelsea, who lost in Carabao Cup final against Liverpool earlier this year, have now suffered their 11th elimination from the FA Cup at the semi-final stage, the third most in the competition’s history after Everton (13) and Tottenham (12)
