Miley Cyrus, Kanye’s antics fail to raise MVA ratings

  • MTV must have expected Miley’s antics to garner more viewership and higher ratings, and the ‘Wrecking Ball’ crooner did not disappoint as she strutted the MVA stage baring almost all of her assets. But then, her bared cleavages didn’t work the magic.

Apart from attracting the highest tweets, the show’s rating plummeted. According to a report by Entertainment TV News, in spite of host Miley Cyrus’ breast-baring and Kanye West’s declaration that he would run for President, this year’s MTV Video Music Awards saw another consecutive drop in ratings.

The awards ceremony bagged 9.8million viewers across 10 networks in the US, a drop in viewership of 5 per cent on 2014.

Last year the show dropped 18 per cent from the previous year which had featured Miley’s controversial twerking antics with Robin Thicke.

However, MTV revealed that the show garnered a whopping 21.4 million tweets, most of which revolved around Kanye’s announcement and Nicki Minaj’s verbal attack on Miley Cyrus.

Also, Facebook had 39 million interactions related to the VMAs.

The VMAs was the second most tweeted about programme of the year in the US behind Super Bowl.

Online streaming of the show was up by 155 per cent on last year as more and more viewers make the switch from terrestrial to digital.”

And below is some of the comments people made about Miley Cyrus’ MVA outing and the rating:

the filth is strong in america.

Those ratings are high only because people tuned in to see how gross Miley would be. How sad is it that the quality of the show means absolutely nothing?

Actually Rosebud, me thinks that most peeps are absolutely sick of Miley and would not have watched if not for all the other talent that performed. I doubt there were high ratings. Twitter comments are by far mostly about how everyone is utterly sick of the miley tramp.

The show isn’t about music or videos anymore, its about what pre-planned “shocking” things these annoying stars will do to make fools of themselves.

Bullshit to that, MTV may claim it but I doubt that it’s actually true.
