Mourinho set record after Man Utd 2-0 win over Southampton

Jose Mourinho is only the first Manchester United manager in 79 years to win his first three games in charge of the club, following his team’s 2-0 win against Southampton at Old Trafford.

The last manager to achieve this feat was Walter Crickmer in November 1937.

As Paul Pogba made his second debut for the club, Zlatan Ibrahimovic made it four goals in three games, opening the scoring 35 mins in with a blinding header assisted by Wayne Rooney – who made his 600th club appearance.

As the second half got underway, Tadic scored a goal deemed offside for the Saints before United were handed a penalty which an Ibrahimovic converted with ease into the bottom corner.

Ibrahimovic scored 31 goals in 38 games for Paris Saint-Germain last season, a total he’ll be looking to exceed to see the Red Devils into the Premier League title race and the Champions League following their fifth-place finish under Louis Van Gaal last season.

Next up, Mourinho’s side face Hull City away next Saturday, before they clash with rivals Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City two weeks later at home.
