New headache for PDP as court stops disciplinary action against Kashamu, others

A Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State has ordered the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to desist from taking any disciplinary action against some of its South-West chieftains.

The chieftains include Senator Buruji Kashamu, the party’s immediate past National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, the immediate past National Auditor, Adewale Adeyanju, and former PDP Chairman in Ondo State, Ebenezer Alabi.

Others are the Vice-Chairman of the PDP in the South-West, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, the Zonal Secretary, Chief Pegba Otemolu, a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Segun Seriki, and the legal adviser of the party in Ekiti State, Niran Owoseni.

The interlocutory injunction was granted in Suit No. FHC/AD/CS/14/2017 by Justice Taiwo O. Taiwo.

Specifically, it restrained the PDP, the Chairman of its National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, and Secretary, Senator Ben Obi, from “taking any disciplinary action against the plaintiffs and other leaders of the PDP in the South West zone.”

This development follows the PDP’s issuance of query to Kashamu over alleged anti-party activities which he denied.

The party will have to device a strategy to address this new legal dimension to the crisis rocking its South West chapter especially after only recently emerging from a long-drawn legal tussle at the national level.
