Oliseh ‘extremely proud’ of Super Falcons despite defeat to France
Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh has hailed the team spirit and efforts of Nigeria’s Super Falcons at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Despite finishing the group stage on third spot following two defeats and a win in Group A, the Thomas Dennerby team are getting praises from all corners.
The Falcons began their campaign with a disappointing 3-0 loss to Norway, but bounced back to win 2-0 against Korea Republic in the second game.
They were however beaten 1-0 by host nation France in the final group game thanks to a VAR-awarded penalty that was even retaken, but Oliseh believes the players were brave.
“Extremely proud of our Super falcons of Nigeria vs France at the world cup,” Oliseh said.

“These girls gave it everything against a French side cheered on by a near full stadium & a doubtful retaken penalty. I am sad, disappointed, but proud of these girls!”

Despite finishing third in Group A, Nigeria still have a slim chance to advance to the round of 16 as one of the best four third-placed teams.
With three points and a -2 goal difference, the Falcons will wait and hope that results from other groups to favour them.
Should Nigeria advance, they will face either Germany or Italy in the knockout round.
