Nigerian celebs in mad rush for invites to meet Macron at Fela’s Shrine

Macron forced to review hike in fuel taxes after violent protests

The planned visit of the number one citizen of France, Emmanuel Macron to the New Africa Shrine has witnessed a mad rush by Nigerian celebrities who are making frantic efforts to get invites to be at the venue when he (Macron) comes calling.

Reports say invitation to the event is premium and a list of invitees was compiled weeks ago but some celebrities are stopping at nothing to ensure they are part of Macron’s historic visit.

Macron will first arrive in Abuja where he will meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss matters bordering on security and terrorism and also parley with members of the National Assembly.

He will later travel to Lagos where he will be hosted by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State as he is also scheduled to attend the annual Art X event staged by Trace TV.

The Lagos State Governor is also expected to use the ocassion to promote Lagos as a tourist destination while movie producer Kunle Afolayan, will introduce Nollywood to the visiting French President in Lagos.

Expected to perform during Macron’s visit which will come to a high when he opens the Alliance Française building in Ikoyi, Lagos are artistes such as Femi Kuti, Banky W and Yemi Alade.
