NUJ to partner Ripples Nigeria on data journalism

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has revealed its interest to partner with Ripples Nigeria, one of Nigeria’s foremost online news platforms, in impacting journalist across the country with knowledge in data journalism.

The national chairman of the union, Dr Qasim Akinreti said this on Thursday at a master class training on data journalism organized by Ripples Center for Data and investigative Journalism (RCDIJ) in Lagos.

Akinreti who expressed concern over the rate at which journalists sensitize news in the country said there is an urgent need for journalist to imbibe the culture of feeding the audience with adequate report via data interpretation.

He noted that there exist a huge pile of data that journalists need to utilize to effectively interpret information and feed the reading public with authentic news, and hold public officials accountable.
