Okagbare inspires women’s 4×100 relay to gold

African star athlete Blessing Okagbare Tuesday night inspired Nigeria relay team to win gold in the women’s 4x100m at the ongoing All Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo.
Okagbare ran a very solid second leg ahead as Nigeria won the race in 43.10secs.
Ghana finished second in 43.72secs ahead of Cote d’Ivoire who finished in time of 43.98secs.
In the final of the men’s 4x100m, Nigeria was disqualified after Ogho-Oghene Egwero, who ran the third leg, was adjudged to have crossed into another lane while exchanging baton with Seye Ogunlewe. Nigeria had placed second before the disqualification.
Also on Tuesday, former junior athlete, Amusan Oluwatobiloba, won gold in the women’s 100m hurdles.
Gnima Faye of Senegal finished second in 13.28secs ahead of another Nigerian, Lindsay Weyinme, who won the bronze in 13.30secs.
In the final of the men’s 400m, Nigeria’s only finalist, Orukpe Erayokan, finished the race in sixth position in a disappointing 45.75secs. Bostwana’s Isaac Makwala won the race in 44.35secs.

And in the women’s race, only Patience Okon George made it to the podium after she finished second, in a personal best of 50.71secs, behind Zambia’s Kabange Mupopo, who took the title with a national record of 50.22secs.
Tosin Adeloye finished fourth after returning in 51.82secs ahead of Margaret Etim in fifth position with time of 52.64secs.
Amusan however provided some bright spot with her gold medal which was followed by Kelechi Nwanaga, who won gold in the women’s javelin event.
