Olympics: Brazil says arrested terrorists belong to ‘amateur’ ISIS group
More facts have continued to emerge following the arrest of 10 suspected ISIS members nabbed in Brazil with authorities revealing that the suspects were part of an ‘amateur’ group using encrypted communications to discuss Islamic State.
According to the police in Brazil, the 10 suspects who are all Brazilians were planning terrorist acts during the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro set to commence next month in the South American country.
In his comments following the arrest of the suspects, Justice Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who oversees the federal police, described the ISIS members as poorly organized.
“Most of them knew each other only through online messaging. The target of their alleged attacks wasn’t clear, ” he said.
