PDP not straightforward, party’s youngest presidential aspirant cries out

Apparently the youngest presidential aspirant, seeking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket, Stanley Osifo, has decried activities of the party.

He accused the party of not being sincere with him in respect to its activities, as he has had to resort to information on the pages of the newspapers to learn about meetings and events that have to do with aspirants.

He also decried the situation where some members of the party were asking him to withdraw from the race based on zonal reasons.

Osifo stated this during a press conference in Lagos on Thursday, calling on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, led by Uche Secondus, to ensure fair treatment of all the candidates ahead of the party’s presidential primary in Port Harcourt, on October 6 and 7.

“After making frantic efforts towards distributing my contact details to key members of the party, I have received indirect attacks and several political gimmicks to demoralise and make me give up my aspiration.

“Also, is the issue of zoning, I have received calls and verbal confrontations that I should withdraw since the next candidate is expected to come from the northern part of Nigeria,” he said.

Osifo said that he was not the mole allegedly planted by the ruling APC or any body as being alleged by some members of the PDP.

“Several names have also been mentioned as being my financial sponsors; I’m a business man and I can boldly say that every penny I’ve spent so far is my hard earned money.”

Osifo, 43, added that he wants to become the youngest democratically elected president in Nigeria, insisting that the PDP should ensure a level playing field for all the aspirants.

This was even as he pledge to work with whoever emerges the party’s flag bearer should he fail to make it.
