Police to get new DIGs this week

The Police Service Commission may appoint new members of the Police Management Team, including additional Deputy and Assistant Inspectors-General of Police this week.

SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that the inauguration of the PMT was being delayed because the acting IG, Muhammed Adamu, had yet to nominate eligible officers for promotion and appointment into the management of the force.

A source at the PSC said the agency had not received official communication from the new police boss as at the close of work on Friday, adding that Adamu might send his nominees to the commission this week.

The PUNCH correspondent had reported that four DIGs who are members of the Police Management Team under former IG, Ibrahim Idris, might be forced out of the service to pave way for Adamu to set up a new management team to work with.
