Burna Boy set to appear in court after ignoring court summons on 2 occasions

The fate of Damini Ogulu better known as Burna Boy will be determined by the police, so say James Silas, the manager of Mr 2Kay who was involved in a robbery incident said to have been masterminded by Burna Boy.

According to Silas, everyone who has been following the case is privy to the statement by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgar Imohimi who said the robbers arrested in connection with the case confessed that they were contracted by Burna Boy through his manager to teach Mr 2Kay a lesson.

“The police commissioner has said it all. The matter is in the hands of the Nigerian police and there is nothing much we can do or say about it at this point. All the things the police said are true. We have no reasons to fabricate anything. The armed robbers said they were sent by Burna Boy.

“The industry is funny; so, we have decided to handle the situation carefully. When the time is right, Mr. 2Kay will address the issue himself. But for now, we don’t want to be in the middle of all the drama. You can see that Mr. 2Kay has yet to speak about this issue.”

Meanwhile, the management team of Burna Boy has denied claims made by the police that their client is on the run over his hand in the robbery incident that happened at the EKO Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island involving fellow artist Mr. 2Kay.

A source from Spaceship Entertainment (the management of Burna Boy) says the artist in question is not on the run but is busy recording new songs in the studio and is not guilty of what he is being accused of.

According to the source; “Burna Boy is neither on the run nor avoiding the police; he is not guilty. I cannot tell you his exact whereabouts but he is in the country recording. Also, you should know that as the festive season approaches, demand for his services would be on the increase, so he is preparing for appearances as well.

“Initially, when he was invited, he could not go to the station because of his engagements, so his father went to the police station in his stead. But now that the police have insisted that they want to see him personally, he would surely honour their invitation. He is not guilty of the charges levelled against him.”

Three days ago, the Lagos State Police Command denied claims by Spaceship Entertainment that the artist has honoured the invitation of the police and he is happy to cooperate with the police over allegations that he plotted an attack against his colleague Mr 2Kay.

Police spokesman, Olarinde Famous-Cole, who denied the claims revealed that Burna Boy is “still on the run contrary to reports making rounds on the internet that the musician has honoured police invitation.”

He said “only Burna Boy’s father, one Samuel Ogulu visited the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) in-charge of the case with the promise to bring Burna Boy before the police.

On Monday, four suspects identified as Balogun Ademola, Obina Igwe, Tunmise Omotore and Joel Kantiock, who claimed to be Burna Boy’s road manager – were paraded by the police in connection with the attack on Mr. 2Kay.

They were alleged to have been offered N100,000 to teach their victim a lesson.
Recall that Mr 2Kay had landed in hospital after he was battered and bruised by a group of four robbers who stormed his hotel room at gunpoint and robbed.

The assailants had disguised as room service to gain entry into his room, where they dispossessed him of a wristwatch, gold jewelry, and phones, among other valuables estimated at millions of naira.

According to reports, Mr 2Kay had just finished performing as one of the main acts during the Buckwyld and Breathless concert and had retired to his room at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, around 11 am when the robbers struck.
