Gov Bello says he holds no grudge against Faleke

The deputy governorship candidate to late Abubakar Audu, Hon. James Faleke, made good his decision to boycott the inauguration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as the new governor of Kogi State. Faleke was absent on Wednesday when Bello was sworn in at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, making him the first governor in the history of Nigeria to sworn in without a deputy.

It would be recalled that Faleke, a two term member of the House of Representatives, had insisted that he would not be deputy to Bello, who was brought in as replacement for late Abubakar Audu, who died just before the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the November 21 election inconclusive. Faleke has approached the Kogi State Governorship Election Tribunal, asking to be declared governor elect.

Governor Bello was sworn in by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Nasir Ajana, who administered the oath of office and that of allegiance on him.

In attendance at the inauguration were the National Chairman of APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, the governor of Nasarawa State, Minister öf Communication Technology, Aday Shittu and a representative of the Senate President, Kabir Gaya.
