PSG, Dortmund into Champions League semis with comebacks vs Barca, Atletico

PSG have reached the semifinal of the Champions League after pulling off an incredible comeback against Barcelona.

Ronald Araújo’s sending off was the turning point, then Kylian Mbappe had his moments to seal victory for Paris St-Germain.

PSG had lost 3-2 in the first leg in France last week but sealed a 4-1 victory at the Camp Nou to advance to the last four.

Barcelona had extended their lead in the 12th minute when Raphinha’s left foot before Araujo was sent off and PSG took advantage of the numerical advantage.

Ousmane Dembele then equalised to give the visitors hope, Vitor Ferreira put them ahead before Mbappe converted a penalty in the 61st minute and score PSG’s fourth in the 89th minute.

Luis Enrique’s side will now face a semi-final against Dortmund, who beat Atletico Madrid 5-4 on aggregate in a thrilling encounter in Germany.

Dortmund also came from the losing end from the first leg of their encounter with Atletico Madrid to secure their place in the semifinal.

Losing 2-1 from the first leg, Dortmund put up a fine performance to seal a 4-2 victory, to advace 5-4 on aggregate to the last four.

With the win, Dortmund reached their first Champions League semi-final in 11 years.

Meanwhile, Diego Simeone’s side have now gone seven years without reaching the final four of Europe’s premier competition.

The semi-final first leg between Dortmund and PSG takes place on 30 April with the second leg on 7 May.
