Qualcomm files counter-suit against Apple

Chip making company, Qualcomm has announced that they will be counter-suing Apple, claiming that the smartphone and gadget making company was in breach of a contract with it, as well as a bunch of other issues that they have.

This includes allegations that Apple had interfered with Qualcomm’s agreements with other licensees, encouraged regulatory attacks on Qualcomm’s business, chose not to utilize the full performance of Qualcomm’s chips, and threatened the company in a bid to shut down any public comparisons.

According to Don Rosenberg, executive vice president and general counsel of Qualcomm, “Now, after a decade of historic growth, Apple refuses to acknowledge the well established and continuing value of those technologies. It has launched a global attack on Qualcomm and is attempting to use its enormous market power to coerce unfair and unreasonable license terms from Qualcomm.

“We intend to vigorously defend our business model, and pursue our right to protect and receive fair value for our technological contributions to the industry.”

Earlier this year it was revealed that Apple had filed a lawsuit against Qualcomm alleging that the company had “extorted” Apple by withholding payments made to the Cupertino company.

Apple also expanded its lawsuit against Qualcomm to include China and the UK.
