Sanusi sues Kano govt, IGP, DSS chief, seeks release from detention
The deposed Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, on Thursday filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking an order for his release from the post-dethronement detention and confinement.
The Kano State government had on Monday banished Sanusi to Awe local government area of Nasarawa State just a few hours after he was sacked as the 14th Emir of Kano.
He is currently detained in an apartment in the town.
In a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/357/2020 and filed by his team of lawyers led by Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), the deposed monarch prayed for an interim order releasing him “from the detention and or confinement of the respondents and restoring his rights to human dignity, personal liberty, freedom of association and movement in Nigeria, (apart from Kano State) pending the hearing and determination of his originating summons.”
