Scores feared dead as multiple explosions hit a hospital in Maiduguri

Again, twin suicide bombers kill 13 in Borno

There are fears of multiple casualties following series of bomb explosions on Friday morning at the Molai General Hospital in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Suspected suicide bombers reportedly detonated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) at the hospital three times, according to residents of the area.

The first detonation was said to happen at about 3:45am, followed by another one at about 5:00am, before the last one that exploded around 5:35am.

It was not yet clear what casualty figures were as details of the incident remain sketchy.

This is the latest in a series of recent devastating attacks by Boko Haram, marking what some security experts are deeming a resurgence.

The service chiefs had only days ago relocated to Borno State, on the orders of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, to coordinate the counter-insurgency effort from the war’s main theatre.
