Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday morning received the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, and other leaders of the party in Abeokuta.

They are currently in a meeting with the former president at his Presidential Library complex, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Aside Secondus, other leaders of the PDP at the meeting are a former deputy national chairman, South West, Chief Olabode George, and members of the party National Working Committee (NWC) among some others.

The leaders were said to have on Friday arrived Abeokuta ahead of the Saturday morning meeting.

While nothing much is known as regards the purpose for the meeting, it is believed it may be connected to efforts by the former leader and the opposition party to ensure President Muhammadu Buhari is defeated in 2019 should he eventually emerge the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
