Senate rejects Saraki’s view on sale of national assets

Nigerian Senate on Tuesday opposed its President, Senator Bukola Saraki on the sale of national assets.

‎Senate made their stand known on the issue during its plenary on Tuesday when Senator Ali Ndume, the Senate majority leader, moved a motion urging the Senate to reject the proposed sale of national assets.

Ndume said, “I move that ‎the Senate oppose the sale of national assets to shore up our reserves.”

When the motion was put to voice vote by Senate President Saraki, the “ayes” had it.

The Senate tweet on its resolution on the sale of national assets reads, “The senate opposes sale of National Assets to shore up Foreign Reserves.

“The Senate rejected prayer 3 of the recommendations which sought for the sale of National Assets to shore up Foreign Reserve.”

This is coming after the Senate President, Saraki, last week Wednesday, in a 14-point statement, recommended the sale of national assets to shore up the nation’s reserves.

Earlier, Nigerian business mogul, Aliko Dangote‎, president of Dangote group had also made a similar call.
