Soldiers kill three Boko Haram fighters in Borno community

The Nigerian Army, defender of the most populous black nation, has been described as cowards who run away when faced by civilians with bare hands.

This belittling description of the Nigerian Army was made by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), who also boasted that the Nigerian security force cannot face its members if armed.

The group stated this in response to the recent clash between its members and soldiers in Abuja, where several of the IMN members were allegedly killed.

The Nigerian Army had claimed that the group were armed and have even warned them to be obedient to the law or face the consequences.

But in his response, Abdullahi Zango, leader of the group, claimed that the statement issued by the military and Police over the killing of Shi’ites were “fabricated lies cooked up to cover their atrocities.”

He said, “They (security forces) continue to say that we are armed. This is a blatant lie. If we are armed, Nigeria Army cannot face us.

“If we have weapons with us, Nigeria Army is too small to face us. With our courage, braveness and bare hands, they are running away, talk more of when we have arms. They are cowards.”

He accused the Police of planting persons with arms among them.

They group’s protest over the continuous detention of its leader, Ibrahim Zakzaky, by the government despite a court ruling ordering for his release, has been the root the recent clashes between security agencies and members of the group, which has left many killed and injured.
