Soldier's wife who travelled from Katsina to Ekiti tests positive for COVID-19

The Ekiti State Government on Monday night said the state has recorded a fresh case of COVID-19 as confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

According to the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, the new case is that of a soldier’s wife who travelled to see her husband in Oye Ekiti.

Yaya-Kolade said: “The new positive case is a female, who entered Ekiti State during the lockdown from Katsina State. Her purpose was to visit her husband, a military officer, who resides in Oye-Ekiti.

“When he noticed symptoms of the COVID-19 infection, he alerted the task force and samples were taken from her for testing. The test result returned positive for COVID-19.”

According to the commissioner, the new case brings the total number of confirmed cases in Ekiti State to 12 of which nine are active, two discharged, and one is deceased.
