The crisis in the South West chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has continued to worsen especially.

The faction of the party in Lagos and OGUN states which seems to enjoy the confidence of the national leadership, has demanded for the expulsion of Sen Buruji Kashamu.

The crisis has festered since the dissolution of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Osun states’ executive members of the party during the PDP’s recent non-elective convention in Abuja.

Already, the South-West Zonal Executive Committee and the party executive committee in Ogun State, have in separate suits dragged the leadership of the PDP to a Federal High Court in Abuja to challenge the party’s dissolution of the committees.

But in a meeting with the Reconciliation Committee headed by chairman of PDP Governors Forum and Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, the Lagos and Ogun states chapters of the party fingered Kashamu as one of the masterminds of the crisis and demanded that he be expelled from the party before his anti-party activities and antics will destroy the party.

The resolution of the meeting was disclosed by the South West Zonal Secretary, Reverend Bunmi Jenyo, explaining that leaders from the two states sanctioned the decision to sack Kashamu.

Some of the leaders from the two states who according to him endorsed the resolution include former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, Capt. Tunji Shelle, Chief Joju Fadairo, Alhaji Sikirulahi Olawale among others.

“After extensive deliberations with the Reconciliation Committee, we, party delegates from Lagos and Ogun States, arrived at the following resolutions:

“We have resolved to work together as one united party and to learn from the past mistakes and happenings in the party.
“We have resolved that the National Working Committee of our great party should deal and relate with the true leaders of Lagos and Ogun PDP under the Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee.

“We also call for the immediate expulsion of Senator Buruji Kashamu for his anti-party actions and destructive antics in the South-West,” the resolutions read.

Recall that Fayose has described some members of the party in the zone, especially those who dragged the party to court, as dissidents, adding that they will not escape sanctions.
