Southeast APC leaders write Buhari, want zone to produce Speaker

The dust is yet to settle over the zoning of the office of the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives to the Southwest by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, as leaders of the party from the zone have written President Muhammadu Buhari, demanding that the zone should be allowed to produce the next Speaker.

It would be recalled that the APC zoned the office of Speaker to the Southwest and has also endorsed the candidacy of of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Majority Leader of the now defunct 8th House of Representatives.

The Southeast APC leaders are however pushing for the emergence of Hon. Emeka Nwajuiba.

In the letter to President Buhari, the Southeast APC Leaders pleaded with him “to passionately look into the zoning arrangement of principal officers’ positions at the National Assembly by our great party.”

“it is our sincere belief that South-East should be accommodated in the spirit of one indivisible Nigeria”, they added.

Also pushing for Nwajuiba’s emmergence is the Chuba Okadigbo Rainbow Organisation.

According to its National Chairman, Dr. James Okoroma, Nwajiuba’s election into the exalted office would give the people of the South-East a true sense of belonging.

He said: “Nigeria stands on a tripod with the Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo. The Igbo who stand as the third leg of the tripod are not represented in the executive and legislative arms of government.’’
