Terror scare: Senegal issues hotel alerts

Following the spate of attacks on hotels and resort centres by militants in the West African region, Senegal’s government has told hotels in its domain to improve security or face closure.

The country’s interior minister Abdoulaye Daouda Diallo says authorities would have no choice but to close down hotels that failed to introduce such measure in the coming days.

Senegal is one of the most popular tourist destinations in French-speaking West Africa and the country is guiding against similar occurrence of terror attacks on hotels in nearby Mali and Burkina Faso which has left more than 50 dead since November.
