Candidate of the PDP, Barr Nyesom Wike has been declared winner of last Saturday’s governorship election in Rivers state, polling a total of 1,029,102 votes amounting to 87.77 percent to beat Dr Dakuku Peterside of the APC who had 124,896 votes amounting to 10.65 percent to come a distant second.
The Returning Officer, Prof Faraday Oruwense announced the results at the Rivers state office of INEC in Port Harcourt in the early hours of Monday, saying that Prince Tonye Princewill of the Labour Party (LP), polled 10,142 (0.86 per cent) to come third.

Delta: Okowa is new gov
ndependent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday declared candidate of the PDP, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, winner of Saturday governorship election in Delta State. The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Bio Nyananyo, announced in Asaba that Okowa polled 724,680 votes to beat his closest rival, Chief Great Ogboru of the Labour Party, who got 130,028 votes.
Chief O’tega Emerhor of APC finished in the 3rd position with 67,825 votes. Nyananyo said that Okowa won in 21 local government areas out of the 25 in the state while Ogboru clinched the remaining four LGAs.

Kwara: Ahmed gets second chance
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara was re-elected for a second term after defeating 15 other candidates at the just concluded governorship election in Kwara state.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Musbau Akanji, Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, announced the APC candidate as winner, having polled 295,832 votes to defeat his closest rival, Sen. Simeon Ajibola of the PDP, who polled 115,220 votes.

Zamfara: Yari re-elected
Governor Abdulaziz Yari of the All Progressive Congress has been re-elected governor of Zamfara State.
In the result declared on Monday in Gusau, the Returning Officer, Prof. Abdullahi Zuru, declared Yari winner with a total vote of 716,964.
His closest rival, who is also his father in-law, Alhaji Mamuda Shinkafi of the PDP, scored 201,938 votes to come second.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate and National Secretary of the party, Alhaji Sani Shinkafi, polled a total of 2,385 votes to come third.

PDP’s Ayade wins in Cross River
The PDP governorship candidate in Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, has been declared the winner of the governorship election in the state, having polled 342,016 votes, ahead of the APC candidate in the state, Odey Ochicha, with votes totalling 53,983.
The Labour Party candidate, Fidelis Ugbo, garnered 36,918 votes.

Tambuwal to relocate to Sokoto Govt House
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, who contested the Sokoto governorship election under the APC, polled 647,609 votes to emerge victorious, while Senator Abdallah Wali, who represented the PDP, scored 269,074.
In the result declared by the Returning Officer, Prof. Abdullahi Bagudu, Tambuwal won in all 23 local governments.

APC’s Bello, wins in Niger
All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Niger state, Alh Abubakar Bello, has been declared winner of the governorship election in the state by the Returning Officer, Prof. Abdulganiu Ambali.
Bello polled 593,702 votes to defeat Alh. Umar Nasko of the PDP, who got 239,772 votes.
The APC governorship candidate won 23 of the 25 local government areas announced.

Masari wins in Katsina
Former Speaker of the House of Reprentatives, Hon Aminu Bello Masari of the APC was on Sunday declared winner of the Katsina State governorship election in the state.
Announcing results, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Alhaji, Ibrahim Bagobiri declared the candidate of the APC in the gubernatorial poll winner having polled a total number of 943, 815 votes to beat his major challenger from the ruling PDP by 476, 768 votes.

Ambode victorious in Lagos
APC candidate in Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has been declared winner of the governorship election in the state.
The Lagos State Collation Officer, Prof. Isaac Adewole, who made the announcement said Ambode polled 811, 994 vote against his closest rival, Jimi Agbaje of the PDP who got 658,788 votes.
Agbaje has called Akinwunmi on the telephone to congratulate and pray for him.

Enugu: Ugwuanyi gets it
The PDP candidate in Unugu State,Mr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has won with 482,277 votes against his main challenger of the APC Okey Ezea who polled a mere 43,839 votes.
Returning officer of the election, Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, Prof. Hillary Edoga, announced the result precisely at 3.36PM.
Wild jubilation has trailed the result of the election as announced by INEC as residents made burn fire at strategic streets in Enugu metropolis.
Meanwhile, the APC candidate had while addressing newsmen in a briefing called for outright cancellation of the result.

Adamawa: Ribadu gives in to APC’s Bindow
PDP’s governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu on Sunday conceded defeat to Sen. Jibrilla Bindow of the APC.
Addresssing people of the state, former EFCC boss said he took his loss in good faith because leadership is a product of God’s anointment.
He said: “I came into this race knowing fully well that political contests are two-way traffics – one either wins or loses. As a man of faith, I was also aware that leadership responsibility is a product of God’s anointment”.
He added: “I came into this race with lofty dreams and clear vision for our dear state, but the voice of the majority has not given me this chance. I take this in good faith.
“I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the winner and pray that at the end of it all our dear state will witness the needed progress and development it so much desires.”

In Kaduna, Yero concedes, congratulates El-Rufai
Kaduna State Governor and candidate of the PDP governorship candidate in Saturday’s election, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has conceded defeat and called up the likely winner, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai of APC, to congratulate him.
Spokesperson of El-Rufai Campaign Organisation, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed that Yero called at about 3:00pm on Sunday, even when results from four local government areas were still being expected from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s headquarters in Kaduna.
Aruwan said, “He (Governor Yero) congratulated El-Rufai and wished him success, he prayed for peace and development of Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.
“El-Rufai in his response thanked Yero and wished him all the best, saying, he hoped to see him soon.”

Incumbent governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has been declared winner of the governorship election in the state.
He captured 11 of the 20 local government areas in the state, scoring a total of 306, 988 votes. While his closest rival, Gboyega Isiaka won in nine local government areas with 201, 440 votes, the SDP candidate, Senator Kamarudeen Odunsi, got 25, 826 votes
