Train collision kills 10 in Italy

Tragedy struck in the southern Italian city of Puglia when two trains collided head on, killing 10 people in the process and injuring dozens of passengers.

Local police say the incident occurred on a single stretch between the towns of Corato and Andria while a spokesman for the local fire brigade said the trains collided in the middle of an oil grove.

The aerial images of the scene of the incident, shows massive debris spread across the area which was caused by the collision, involving the two four-carriage trains which were travelling on a line with a single track.

Following the incident described as tragic, the Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, sent his condolences to the families of the victims. “We will not stop until we have clarified what happened,” he told reporters.
