Another sitting governor today jumped through the legal hoop when the Oyo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, dismissed the petition brought before it by the candidate of Accord Party (AP) Sen. Rashidi Ladoja against the election of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The tribunal in an unanimous judgment read by its Chairman, Justice Mohammed Mayaki, said Ladoja and Accord “failed woefully” to prove allegations of rigging, electoral malpractices, violence and non-compliance with the Electoral Act beyond reasonable doubt.

The tribunal, in a judgement that lasted four and a half hours, rejected the evidences presented by the witnesses of Accord Party, adding that they were not specific to incidents as claimed, as well as failing to prove the allegations beyond reasonable doubt.

The tribunal therefore upheld the election of the incumbent governor.
