Trump threatens Saudi Arabia over journalist's disappearance

US President Donald Trump has threatened to declare a state of emergency after his failure to get funding for his promised border wall.

Trump issued the threat moments before flying to the Texas border with Mexico to try to bolster his case that the country is facing a crisis which can only be solved by spending billions of dollars to construct a wall.

“We can declare a national emergency. We shouldn’t have to,” Trump told reporters. “This is just common sense.”

His comments are coming a day after he stormed out of a meeting with top Democrats over his failure to get funding for the controversial US-Mexico border wall.

According to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Trump said ‘bye-bye’ and walked out of the meeting after they said they would not fund a border wall if he ended the ongoing partial government shutdown.
