Guardiola inspired after Man City thrash Real Madrid

Manchester City Boss, Pep Guardiola, believes his side can compete with every club if they continue in the intensity with which they thrashed Real Madrid.

In the pre-season friendly in Los Angeles, United States, City came out on top with a 4-1 victory over the European champions, to earn their first win of the summer.

After a goalless first half, Nicolas Otamendi tapped in the opener, Raheem Sterling made it 2-0, before John Stones went for the third, and Brahim Diaz scored the fourth with a superb strike.

“If we play with this intensity, we can compete with everyone. That is our dream,” said Guardiola.

Though Real pulled one back with the last effort of the game – a stunning goal from Oscar Rodriguez – Manchester City were dominant.

Real, who before now were beaten by Manchester United, may have been without superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo but a strong side still, boasting Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema among others.

City, who have spent over £200m this summer, will begin their Premier League campaign on August 12 away to Brighton.
