MIGRANT INFLUX: Pentagon sanctions deployment of active-duty troops at Mexico border

The United States of America has ordered the deployment of active-duty troops at the southern border with Mexico until January 31, to ward off desperate migrants and asylum seekers.

That much information was revealed by Pentagon’s Defense Secretary Jim Mattis who revealed that the 45-day extension was requested by the Department of Homeland Security.

He said the deployment involves military forces that will install and repair wire barriers and provide security and transportation for border patrol agents.

The development is coming hours after a group of daring asylum seekers and migrants who are tired of endlessly waiting breached the US-Mexico border risking almost certain detention by U.S. authorities but hoping the illegal entry will allow them to apply for asylum.

According to reports, a number of them opted to eschew legal procedures and attempt an illegal entry from Tijuana as dusk fell on Monday at a spot about 1,500 feet (450 meters) away from the Pacific Ocean.
