Reps approve June 12 to replace May 29 as Democracy Day

Nigeria’s lower federal legislative chamber, the House of Representatives on Thursday approved June 12 as a day to be marked as Democracy Day in the country.

The development came following the adoption of a report on a bill seeking to amend the Public Holidays Act 2004, which was considered by the lawmakers during Thursday plenary.

In their consideration of the reports the lawmakers approved the amendments to three clauses ‎in the Act, as recommended in the report.
