David Silva scores

David Silva scored a late goal to get Manchester City off the mark in this season’s Champions League with a victory away to Hoffenheim.

The Pep Guardiola side had gone behind in the first minute of the encounter when Ishak Belfodil finished through the legs of goalkeeper Ederson.

They equalised six minutes later when Sergio Aguero poked home from Leroy Sane’s cut-back but won the game via a dramatic 87th-minute strike by Silva, who capitalised on a defensive error by Hoffenheim’s Stefan Posch.

City were stunned 2-1 at the Etihad against Olympique Lyon in their opener, but bounced back with a win to keep their hopes alive of advancing from the group.

In another Champions League encounter played concurrently, Paulo Dybala scored a hattrick to help Juventus defeat Young Boys 3-0.

The Argentine striker completed his treble on 69 minutes to make it nine straight wins for the Serie A champions in all competitions this season.

It’s a second defeat for the Switzerland team, who also fell 3-0 against Manchester united in their opening game at home.

For Juventus, who were without Cristiano Ronaldo, it’s their second win, having beaten Valencia 2-0 in Spain in their opener.
