Four suspected kidnappers killed, victim rescued in Kebbi

Police operatives in Kebbi on Friday killed four suspected kidnappers in the state.

The operatives also arrested one member of the gang and rescued a 60-year-old victim, Umaru Bawa, in Suru local government area of the state.

The spokesman for the state police command, Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi.

The statement read: ” The incident occurred on February 14, 2025, when armed men stormed Gobiraje village in Suru LGA and abducted Bawa.

“Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Suru swiftly mobilized police operatives and local vigilantes, tracking the suspects to Tundafari Forest in the Dakingari axis.

“A gun battle ensued between security forces and the kidnappers, leading to the neutralization of four kidnappers and the arrest of one suspect with fatal injuries.

“Other suspects escape with gunshot wounds into the forest while we rescue the kidnapped victim unharmed and recover the sum of ₦3 million in ransom money. ”
