The House of Representatives has resolved to investigate the frequent collapse of the national grid.

The national grid collapsed three times last week to bring the system disturbance to eight this year.

This followed the adoption of a motion of urgent national importance raised by the lawmaker from Bauchi State, Mansur Manu Soro, during the plenary on Wednesday in Abuja.

In his presentation, Soro expressed deep concern over the persistent grid failures which plunged the entire country into blackout and worsened the country’s economic challenges.

He stressed that a stable power supply is essential for economic growth and development in any nation.

Soro noted that the national grid had collapsed eight times in 2024 alone and described the situation as alarming.

In its resolution, the House directed its Committee on Power to investigate the frequent collapse of the national grid and present the report within three weeks.
