SocialMediaTrends: Nigerians call out Ondo Gov. Aiyedatiwa for ‘abusing’ the Naira in new video
The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has come under severe attack for allegedly throwing wads of naira notes and branded caps into the crowd at a market square in Akure, the state capital.
In a video shared on TikTok on Wednesday, the governor was on a campaign trail for the November 16th gubernatorial election in the state when he was caught throwing money at the crowd in an apparent bid to entice them.
The video of Aiyetidawa throwing money at the crowd has led to serious condemnation from many Nigerians with some calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to arrest and prosecute him for naira abuse just like they did in the case of crossdresser, Bobrisky who was prosecuted and jailed for six months for a similar offence.
Read some of the reactions below:
“@officialEFCC see raw abuse of Naira here, Bobrisky’s own is a learner looking at this. But, as usual, you will say, the governor has immunity, therefore, you can’t arrest or challenge him. If you can’t arrest Yahaya Bello who doesn’t have immunity, is it a governor who has immunity.” – @realTobiAkinbo
“Imagine APC’s outgoing governor, going to the market square, throwing Caps to the masses, incumbent/outgoing governor for that matter.. Who brought Ondo state people to this end sef? God we look up you.” – @mcdondestinybaba
