Teenage wonder Lamine Yamal scored and provided an assist to help Barcelona defeat city rivals Espanyol and clinch the La Liga title.

Yamal led his side to a 2-0 victory as they won the La Liga with two games left, holding an unassailable seven-point advantage over second-placed Real Madrid.

After a goalless first half, Yamal, 17, curled a fantastic shot into the top left corner from the edge of the box on 53 minutes.

Fermin Lopez then added a second goal deep into injury time from Yamal’s pass.

Yamal’s effort was his 17th goal of a season in which he has cemented his place as one of the world’s most exciting players of any age.

Barcelona reached the Champions League semi-finals where they lost to Inter Milan in a dramatic encounter.

Having already won the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup, the title success (28th league title) confirmed a clean sweep of domestic trophies for the Catalan side.

Manager Hansi Flick is in his first season as Barcelona head coach.
