DMO, Finance Ministry move to avert oil marketers’ strike

Published

on

Top officials of the Federal Government, yesterday, began a trouble shooting measure to nip in the bud planned strike by oil marketers over N800 billion oil subsidy arrears.

New Telegraph sources at the Finance Ministry and Debt Management Office (DMO) confirmed long hours stretch of meeting involving the Minister, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed and Director General of DMO, Mrs. Patience Oniha.
“The DG has been outside the office since morning holding crucial meeting which I strongly believe is connected to the subsidy arrears,” said the source.

Efforts to get official reaction from DMO DG were unsuccessful. Oniha neither picked her call nor responded to SMS sent to her mobile line.
Officials at Ministry of Finance kept mute when contacted.
