Fresh crisis loomed at the House of Representatives on Thursday as factional principal officers of the minority parties, emerged, and took over designated seats.

It was gathered that the factional principal officers of the minority parties were led by Hon. Kingsley Chinda (PDP, Rivers State).

Recall that, Femi Gbajabiamila announced another faction led by Hon. Ndudi Elumelu (PDP, Delta State) as principal officers for the minority parties on Wednesday.

The announcement by the speaker led to the crisis between the two factions, which prompted a free-for-all with the two factions laying claim to the positions.

Owing to this, at the plenary on Thursday, Hon. Chinda’s faction went to take over seats of the minority principal offices located at the front row facing the Speaker’s seat.

Meanwhile, the development has generated anxiety among the lawmakers as no one was sure what would happen next.

Plenary session commenced at 11am but as at 11:27am, a good number of lawmakers were already seated, waiting for the Speaker’s procession which is likely to include Hon. Elumelu’s faction.
