Flying Eagles get cash boost ahead WAFU semi against Niger Republic

Nigeria U-20 men’s football team, the Flying Eagles have received cash boosts from concerned Nigerians for their WAFU B U-20 Championship campaign.

The team, led by Aliyu Zubairu, began the competition with a 1-0 defeat in their opening game against Burkina Faso but bounced back in their second game.

Having defeated Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 on matchday two in Lome on Thursday, Nigeria set up a semifinal clash against Niger Republic.

After the win against the young Elephants, the Flying Eagles were rewarded with a N5m gift by Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.

According to the team’s media officer, Sharif Abdallah, Ndidi doled out the money after the victory over Cote d’Ivoire.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau also donated N2m to the Flying Eagles on Friday.

Nigeria will take on Niger Republic in the semi-final on Saturday (today). The game will kick-off at 4pm. However, there are reports that the game has been postponed to Sunday.

Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire will clash in the other last four encounter.
