Four arraigned for exam malpractice, impersonation during UTME

Police on Thursday arraigned four persons at the Lagos Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ikeja, for alleged examination malpractice and impersonation during the last Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in the state.
The defendants – Damilola Rufai (27), Tella Oriyomi (19), Temidayo Williams (20) and Ibrahim Akindele (23) – were charged with impersonation, examination malpractice and felony.
The Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the quartet committed the offences on April 26 at different examination centres in Lagos.
According to the prosecutor, the Rufai allegedly came into the examination centre to impersonate a candidate.

He alleged that the three other defendants were involved in examination malpractice and were all caught at different centres.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O. O Kushanu granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till June 16 for mention.
