Rivers Gov Fubara suspects foul play in Police investigation into bomb explosion
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has voiced his disappointment with the police for their perceived inaction in uncovering the truth behind the recent bomb explosion in Port Harcourt.
Speaking during a courtesy visit from stakeholders of the Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday, Fubara questioned the silence from the authorities, suggesting that it may be due to the suspects not being his supporters.
The governor’s comments come weeks after the bomb explosion incident, with no official statement from the police.
Fubara expressed his frustration, stating, “I’ve not been hearing anything, and I’m wondering, after how many weeks now, the Nigeria police are still not able to come out and make a statement about the attempt by someone… who tried to detonate dynamite in front of Hotel Presidential.

“I’m still wondering why it doesn’t happen. But if it’s maybe any other thing that has to do with us, they will say they should even charge the person for terrorism.”
Fubara’s remarks suggest a perceived bias in the investigation, implying that if the suspects were linked to his political opponents, the police would not act swiftly.
The Ikwerre Ethnic Group, which includes four local government areas, is the same ethnic group as former Governor Wike, Fubara’s predecessor.
The governor’s comments highlight the tension and political dynamics at play in the state, as he seeks answers and accountability from the police.
