Benue lawmakers in show of strength (Video)

Published

on

A contest of wits, and who occupies the seat of the majority leader in the Benue State House of Assembly on Tuesday turned the lawmakers against themselves, as they threw caution to the wind and engaged each other in physical fights.

Trouble started shortly after the election of Barr Adanyi (Makurdi South) of the APC as Majority leader. This did not go down well with Hon. Martins Aza (Makurdi North) of the PDP who objected; pointing out that PDP had 16 members in the house, and as such, should have the majority.

An argument ensued between two lawmakers in the process who descended on each other, exchanging blows. It was the intervention of other lawmakers present that prevented the lawmakers from causing more harm.
