Former President Goodluck Jonathan has broken his silence since leaving office on May 29, with a plea today that Nigerians should continue to support and pray for his successor, President Muhammadu Buhari, as the Boko Haram sect intensify attacks in the North-East.
Jonathan made the plea on his official Facebook page while reacting to the Church bombing in Yobe which left over six people dead.
The former President, who has been silent for several weeks, said the Sunday attack was a sad reminder that the war against terror is a task for all Nigerians and not only the armed forces.
He wrote: “The death of any Nigerian at the hands of terrorists is a sad reminder that the war on terror is a task for all Nigerians not just the armed forces. I urge all Nigerians to continue to pray for peace in Nigeria and to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the government does its best to bring an end to these acts of terror and secure all Nigerians. May God bless Nigeria.”
A bomb explosion suspected to be from a male suicide bomber killed six persons including the bomber at a local branch of Redeemed Christian Church of God along Bauchi road in Potiskum Town, Yobe State.

GEJ couldn’t be more grateful. Loosing this past election was prolly one of the best things that happened to this man. Uneasy is the head that wears the crown…

What GEJ lacks in leadership competence, he makes up for in immense goodwill. It is not often in our politics that you find people who openly support their opponents. I’m happy for him that he lost the last election. He will probably serve this nation better as an elder statesman than he did as a president.
